Reading the top line must have made you feel like, WOAAHH; is this even a question? Obviously cool parents are better. But guys, don’t judge a book by its cover. Let me take you through all the positives and negatives of both these types.
There’s an extent to everything. So deciding on what’s better depends upon the extent up to which the parents behave, let it be cool or strict. Cool to such an extent that they don’t even care about your marks, or what you do and where you are, that’s not good parenting. And also being strict to an extent where you’re not even allowed to breathe without their permission is another bad thing. Extremity in anything isn’t good. Personally speaking, my parents are very strict. I have to be under control with everything I do and be under discipline and I’m somewhat okay with it because I’m atleast allowed to live life the way I want to. I’m not enclosed in a cage. Of course, I have to do a lot of pleading and begging to get things done my way, but that’s better than not getting it done at all. Some parents, like to keep their children totally in grip. The child cannot do anything but study and meetings with friends is a crime.
So parents, take a moment and think about what kind of parents you want to be. The parent who allows their children to live their life and yet looks after their right and wrong without over-involvement in their life or the ones that baby-sit their children beyond bearable limits.
